I&#8217;m Fengkai Tian, currently a Ph.D. student at the University of Missouri in Biological Engineering \ud83d\ude0e. My world is all about digital &amp; precision agriculture \ud83c\udf31, combining drones data\u2708, environmental data \ud83d\udcca, &nbsp;and various algorithms \ud83e\udd16 to make crops grow &#8220;smarter&#8221;.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I also got my B.S. in Statistics and Mathematics &amp; M.S. in Data Science at Mizzou, specializing in High Performance Computing &#8211; so, yes, writing a good story using different datasets with the goal of finding interesting things is pretty much a daily part of my job \ud83d\udcbb. My daily toolkit? Keywords: Statistical learning, AI, plant science, big data and remote sensing magic \ud83e\ude84.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>At the PAAL lab, I&#8217;m the &#8220;drone guy&#8221; \ud83d\udd79\ufe0f, flying DJI and Freefly drones to collect and analyze everything with hyperspectral, RGB, thermal, lidar, and multispectral data. I also work with my crew to design research projects that advance precision agriculture \ud83d\ude80. Along the way, I&#8217;ve published several papers in Q1 &amp; Q2 journals, including but not limited to precision ag &amp; plant phenotyping\ud83c\udf3e.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When I&#8217;m not at work or in the field, you&#8217;ll probably find me geeking out over robotics \ud83e\udd16, diving into real-time video applications with deep learning \ud83d\udcf9, or exploring IoT and edge computing \ud83c\udf10. I&#8217;m actively involved in these projects, and I love pushing the boundaries of what&#8217;s possible. I also run a digital agricultural information research platform \ud83d\udd2c in Chinese, where I share insights with over 10k subscribers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To expand my understanding of different crops, I&#8217;m constantly learning about agriculture and even grow a variety of fruits and vegetables myself \ud83c\udf45\ud83c\udf53.
